TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

At The Nature Conservancy, we believe that learning is smart conservation. When employees expand their knowledge and develop new professional skills, they help the Conservancy adapt to change and meet the challenges ahead. This is why we offer new employee on-boarding sessions as well as a variety of classroom and online training focused on professional, functional management and leadership development.

All of our employees have access to a Learning Management System that allows them to take online, self-paced courses 24 hours a day, seven days a week via such avenues as E-Cornell, Lynda and Harvard. We also offer a Leadership Development Program which prepares our leaders to succeed in their roles. This program consists of four tiers, each providing a multidisciplinary curriculum that targets the specific development needs of leaders based on their levels of responsibility and accountability.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT & ADVANCEMENT

In addition to our comprehensive training programs,we offer:

  • Formal fellowship opportunities within our CODA program
  • Mentoring programs to help develop conservation and leadership expertise

WE BELIEVE IN DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

We recognize that conservation of biological diversity is best advanced by the leadership and contributions of men and women of diverse backgrounds, beliefs and cultures. The Nature Conservancy is working to make a lasting difference around the world in more than 70 countries and territories, and we have a globally diverse workforce of over 3,500 committed and talented staff based or working in all 50 states in the United States and in offices around the world. We are committed to our diversity and inclusion principles and value a blend of perspectives and viewpoints, because we know that having a diverse workforce, which is representative of the global population, is essential to achieving our mission.

We sponsor Employee Resources Groups which are instrumental in providing resources, tools and access to a community of peers and allies. Currently, we have:

  • Women In Nature
  • Nature’s Pride
  • Young Emerging Professionals
  • Multicultural
  • League of Employees of African Descent (LEAD)
  • Evergreen

We also provide training workshops focused on diversity and inclusion because we want to go beyond “diversity hiring,” and many of our business units sponsor diversity-specific pilot projects which are directly tied to their conservation efforts.
