Tackling climate change is one of the most important areas of work for The Nature Conservancy (TNC). We are focused on implementing and increasing emphasis on readily available, cost-effective natural climate solutions, such as reforestation, and drive policy changes to accelerate our transition to a clean energy future.

China is committed to cutting emissions by becoming more energy efficient and by developing renewable energy. Transitioning to clean energy will be a big part of the climate solution, but renewable energy sources such as wind and solar farms must be sited well.

To protect vital ecosystems, wildlife and local communities, TNC is proactively identifying appropriate sites for clean energy facilities as China accelerates towards a clean energy future. This siting work will help guide changes in public policy and incorporate practices that protect nature and mitigate climate change.

Education and engagement is central to our approach. In Longwu, Hangzhou, we are in the process of establishing a community nature school. We hope this school will provide a place for residents to learn about water security and participate in conservation.
