With endangered sea turtles nesting on quiet shores and vivid coral reefs winding through glistening waters, the Virgin Islands are brimming with beauty and life.
In 2017, Hurricanes Irma and Maria ravaged these islands, devastating marine and coastal environments that were already declining due to overfishing, pollution and climate change. The Nature Conservancy has been working in the Virgin Islands for over 40 years—restoring coral reefs and mangroves, protecting important nature preserves and safeguarding wildlife in this small paradise of islands and sea.
