In light of recent guidance from the State of Wisconsin and TNC leadership, we are taking several actions to keep our staff, volunteers and you safe and healthy. Our offices in Madison, Baraboo, East Troy, Minocqua and Sturgeon Bay are closed until further notice. Our staff members are working from home and can be reached via email and phone. We will do our best to reply in a timely fashion. We are canceling events and non-essential work travel including off-site meetings, seminars, speaking engagements and conferences until further notice. Are Nature Conservancy preserves open to visitors?
The majority of the Conservancy’s preserves in Wisconsin are open to visitors for hiking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, bird watching, and photography. A few preserves are generally closed to the public, either due to access or liability problems or because even limited use would destroy the natural features we seek to protect.

Can I hunt on Nature Conservancy preserves?
The Conservancy provides hunting opportunities for deer, turkey and other game species at most Wisconsin preserves. Learn more here.

Does Wisconsin have volunteer opportunities?
Yes! We hold regular stewardship work day at many of our preserves, and we have occasional office volunteer needs. Go to the Get Involved tab at the top of this page and search “Wisconsin” to find upcoming events.
We also post volunteer opportunities on the Volunteer Match web site.

How can I speak up about policy and funding issues that affect conservation in Wisconsin?
You can sign up for Wisconsin Great Places News if you want to help us speak up for Wisconsin’s lands, waters and wildlife. You’ll receive news about our work in Wisconsin, and, from time to time, we will send action alerts via Great Places News asking you to contact your Wisconsin legislators to support state and federal policy and funding issues that affect the Wisconsin lands, waters and wildlife you love. If you are interested in taking action for nature beyond Wisconsin, you can visit our Action Center any time.

What is the process if I would like to do scientific research at a TNC preserve in WI?
To apply for a research permit, please download and fill out our application and send it to us electronically. Appropriate Conservancy staff will be involved with reviewing the application, including scientists, land managers and program directors. We also coordinate with staff of other agencies, in particular the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, for many of our research permits.
